Welcome from Travis Hatton, Music Director
Thank you for visiting the Beaverton Chamber Symphony Orchestra web site. I am thrilled to be the new Music Director, in part because of the interest community members have shown and I know will continue to show in the growth and well-being of this organization. I hope that you will find what you are looking for in this trip to our web site, and that you will decide to become involved. I would like to personally invite you to attend one of our concerts and become a supporter or a volunteer. We are growing, and it's all because of people like you. As the Music Director, my pledge will be to present the orchestra in public performances to you, performing some of the very best music ever written, and performed at the highest possible level. I hope that you will find every concert not only varied and interesting, but also thrilling and moving. We all know that music has this potential, and I promise that achieving this at every concert will be my top priority. I believe that every healthy community needs healthy performing arts organizations. Beaverton is no exception. We at the BCSO want very much to do our part to make this city a great place. Please join us and be a part of what promises to be an exciting and fulfilling adventure. ABOUT MR. HATTON Travis Hatton's versatile conducting career spans a broad range of musical companies around the world. He has led opera and ballet companies throughout Europe and America, and has appeared as a guest conductor with orchestras in Poland,Slovakia, the Czech Republic and in Boston, Tennessee, Indiana, California, Alaska, Colorado, Washington, Oregon and Texas. As a choral conductor, Mr. Hatton has conducted opera choruses in Europe as well as California, Indiana, Oregon and Washington. Since arriving in the Portland area, he has appeared with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, the Columbia Symphony Orchestra and the Rose City Chamber Orchestra. Mr. Hatton is currently the Music Director of the Sunnyside Symphony Orchestra and Chorus at the Sunnyside SDA Church in Portland, Director of Orchestras at Valley Catholic School in Beaverton, and Director of Music at the First Baptist Church in Portland. Mr. Hatton holds a Bachelors of Music degree (awarded Magna Cum Laude) in Music Theory and Composition from the University of the Pacific and a Masters of Music degree in Orchestral Conducting from the New England Conservatory of Music. He has held teaching positions within the music departments of Oregon State University, Ball State University, and Wellesley College. |
